AS TOMORROW IS A NATIONAL HOLIDAY, NO INTERNATIONAL HERALD TRIBUNE WILL ARRIVE IN THE POST, TELLING US ABOUT THE EASTER WEEKEND.
TODAY IS EASTER DAY AND WE ARE UNDER IT, SNOW AND ILLNESS. IT BEGAN WITH MY FLU, THEN BELINDA TOOK TO IT TOO; EDGAR HAS A GASTRO AND IS SICK, SO THEN ME. MY TWISTED KNEE AND THE IMPENDING OPERATION DOES NOT MAKE FOR MUCH FUN IN THE SNOW.
EASTER DAY WAS CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF ENERGY. WE MANAGED AN EASTER EGG HUNT IN THE CHANTIER.
MILLIE RECEIVED THIS EMAIL FROM HER GODFATHER.
EASTER, CHRISTIANITY, ISLAM? NO RELIGION IS TAUGHT AT SCHOOL. WHAT IS THE CROSS? WHAT IS GOOD FRIDAY? MILLIE IS CURIOUS, HER FAITH UNCERTAIN, UNINFORMED. HER DESIRE TO BELIEVE IS BEFORE US.
I am writing to wish to you very very Happy Easter! I am so sorry that I am sending you this by email, but I am worried that my card will not get to you in time for Easter!
This is such an important and wonderful time; a time to think of all things that you can do better and a time to think of how lucky we all are for what we have our families and our friends; it is a time to think about God and about Jesus, and what Jesus did for all of us, and that he loves us and is with us today and that he loves you Millie so so much.
It is so wonderful to think and know, that although we all sometimes do bad things, and are nasty to eachother - all of these things God has forgiven us - this is called God's "Grace".
Jesus died on the cross for each one of us; he took upon himself all the bad things that we have done and may do - so that God can forgive us all, you and me.
Jesus rose again - and is with us - each of us all the time. Imagine that, if ever you are feeling sad, lonely or upset - you can ask God to hold your hand and if you close your eyes you can imagine Him, taking you by the hand and taking care of you.
I have not sent you an Easter Egg - as I think is would get squashed in the post, but I have ordered a special book that I hope you will enjoy.
A big kiss to you and give lots of love to Mummy and Daddy and your brothers
Lots of Love

Craig, thank you this which we have shared with Millie, shortly after, as it happens our own inadequate attempts to explain Easter.
Our life is simple but my studies of the world beyond our valley overwhelm me with a profound sadness at the suffering our fellow humans endure. I cannot find reason, nor faith to explain it.
With love to you all, especilly dear Ben. I would so like you to come out here when you are able to drive. What fun we would be having this Easter in the snow, were we not all sick.
