Tomorrow I leave The Valley for The Shop.
I return on Wednesday.
Naturally I don't want to go, to miss my children's end of term play, to miss the motocross that will pass our house on Saturday, to miss a picnic-planned, to miss being in an Auvergnat bar for the final on Saturday against Toulouse, to miss a single moment of blue, clean heat.
When I return, it will be the summer holidays, and I'm taking one from this fucking world.
I will continue to post photos, but I don't intend to pick up a copy of the International Herald Tribune for 2 months. Nor turn on the radio, or the internet. I'm tuning out.
I need a holiday from the world.
While I'm gone, I think Pakistan and Afghanistan will be at war.
NATO will be lost in the middle, and while this is going down, Russia will squeeze BP on TNK, the energy debate will blow hard, increased energy demand predictions, oil prices will climb.
Inflation, recession. Perhaps an attack on Iran.
I feel something bad brewing, no adults in charge.
I don't want to watch. And if I don't, maybe it doesn't actually happen.
I can't hear it in The Valley.
I said I would do this for a year, but it's too hard. I need a break.
I need to think of my family and my children, my home, my friends, my body.
This planet is too big for us. Won't it stop?
If you're in Paris, please join me at the events below.
I did the shopping for the party today at the market.
